Speech Therapy

Janet received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Florida in 2000 and her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of South Florida in 2002. She is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and has participated in ASHA’s Leadership Development Program.  Janet is Hanen certified through the It Takes Two to Talk program and has led these parent training courses. Janet has worked at Beth Ingram Therapy Services for her entire career. She has held positions as a therapist, lead therapist, assistant clinic director, and clinic director. She has provided services in Polk County Public Schools, Hillsborough Public Schools, and Pasco County Schools. She has worked as a therapist and on an evaluation team with Polk County and Hillsborough County Early Steps program.

Janet has a passion for helping patients improve their communication skills. There is no better accomplishment than teaching a young child their first words or helping an adult recover their communication skills following a stroke. Janet has worked with patients from birth to 85 years of age and has treated patients with a hearing impairment, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, stroke rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, Augmentative Communication Disorders, social skills training, feeding disorders, voice disorders, and fluency disorders. Janet finds it rewarding to mentor new professionals in the field through their roles as a clinic fellow, speech assistant, and as an intern. Janet has been very involved with FLASHA and has a held a number of positions on the FLASHA board including planning the state convention for at least 3 years. In her free time, she attends Gator football games with her husband, spends time with her 3 adorable French bulldogs, and has a passion for reading and scrapbooking.

I have been a licensed, pediatric Speech Language Pathologist for 10+ years.  I have professional experience in a variety of settings, ranging from early intervention, autism spectrum disorder, assistive tech, consulting, language delays and articulation disorders as well as everything in between! I also enjoy leadership and mentoring roles!  When I am not working; I enjoy time with my family, skateboarding, reading and going to the beach!
